Liminal

“Liminal” is a short film installation presented as a continuous loop. Composed of moving images of nature and an accompanying soundscape (best experienced with headphones), the work reflects on moments of transition and suspension.
Created in response to the occasion of the union of two of our friends, “Liminal” explores the significance of thresholds, or the spaces that exist between what has been and what is yet to come. Rather than focusing on a single event or destination, the work turns attention to the often-overlooked beauty of the in-between, inviting viewers into a contemplative encounter with the present moment. The images and sounds evoke a sense of temporal fluidity, while the cyclical loop suggests that beginnings and endings are rarely fixed.
This work was included in a temporary exhibition titled Ceremonies of Co-Creation and Celebration at the Maison Des Arts in Brussels, organized by Jacob Moose and Rylan Shewmaker for their wedding day. The installation included a screen projection and headphones, with a stool positioned in front of the work, encouraging visitors to pause, linger, and inhabit this liminal space for a while.
